Nigeria crash out of Columbia U20 Cup

Abdul Ajagun (L) of Nigeria duels for the ball with Sebastien Faure of France

A tough edge-of-the-bench match it was as the high scoring Nigeria Flying Eagle could not live to the expectation of their Cali fans, who cheered them throughout of the match.
The team that started the campaign on a hopeful with a perfect performance at the group stage, though a little bit reluctant against England at the second round, scored the highest team goals of 15 conceding five.
Haven sliced into the Quarter final of the tourney, the likes of A. Lacazette and the Captain Gueida Fofana made the difference in the game with astonishing goals to which the Nigerian goal man Dami Paul had no response. The hard fighting Nigerian struck twice through first time substitute Maduabuchi Ejike whose regulation time die-minute header and extra time flick brought the eagles close to the Semis.
France finally booked their first-ever semi-final appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, seeing off Nigeria 3-2 in Cali. The French were unwilling to handover their semi-final ticket, and quickly snatched the lead through Fofana's nifty long-range chip, lobbing the ball over Paul into the Nigerian net. Lacazette bagged his brace just a minute later after receiving a fine pass across the face of goal from Kakuta. Ejike's second of the night in the second period of extra time, unsettling Les Bleuets, but the Nigerians were unable to pull back another goal before the final whistle from the referee Dario UBRIACO from Uruguay.
Nigerian then join the like of host, Columbia and Argentina that crashed out the previous day.
